Before you write in
Most questions we get are already answered on the FAQ — whether calories can be turned on (they cannot), how the goal is set, whether there is an account, and what happens to your data. Worth thirty seconds before you type.
If something is broken
Send us these four things and we can usually work it out without a back-and-forth:
- Your iPhone model and iOS version — Settings, then General, then About.
- The app version, at the bottom of the app's own Settings screen.
- What you tapped, and what happened.
- A screenshot, if there was something on screen worth seeing.
We cannot see your log. The app sends nothing anywhere, so there is no server-side record of what went wrong on your device — which is the whole point, and also why your description does the work a crash report usually would.
Things you can fix yourself
An entry is wrong. Swipe the row on Today to delete it, or tap it to edit. Past days are editable too, from History.
The goal is wrong. Settings, at the top. Type a new number, or change your bodyweight and pick a different multiplier. It takes effect immediately and does not touch the days you have already logged.
Reminders are not arriving. Check the toggle in the app's Settings first, then check iOS Settings, then Notifications, then ProteinMaxxing. Reminders are scheduled locally on the device, so if iOS has notifications switched off for the app nothing we do will get through.
You want to start over. Reset app, in Settings, clears every entry and returns the settings to their defaults. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore it for you — there is no copy anywhere else.
Your data
Everything you log lives on your phone and nowhere else. You can export it, delete a day, or reset the app entirely from Settings. Deleting the app takes all of it with it. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is stored and what is not.
Feature requests
Send them. The useful ones tell us which screen you stopped using and why — that is more actionable than a feature name, and it is the feedback we act on fastest.
Some things are not coming, and it saves us both time to say so plainly: calories, carb and fat macros, weight tracking over time, meal plans, and a mandatory account. Those are not missing features. They are the product.
The app is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. If you have a kidney condition, are pregnant, or are managing any medical condition, talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before setting a protein target.
